Şavşat/Artvin

Şavşat is a district of Artvin located at the easternmost tip of the Black Sea region. The district was taken from Ardahan province and transferred to Artvin province in 1921. The name Şavşat comes from the Georgian word Şavşeti and Şavşat town is one of the settlements in the historical Şavşeti region.
